Live from the Rockies presents Cosmic Harmonies, a transcendent afternoon of piano artistry with internationally acclaimed pianist and Banff Centre Art of Piano alumna JOYCE YU, whose "exceptional maturity and sensitivity" (Gabriela Montero) has captivated audiences from Shenzhen Concert Hall to the Hamptons.
More than a recital, Cosmic Harmonies is a narrative journey through the elemental forces of earth, water, and the cosmos - an invitation to reflect on nature and the universe through a program blending intellectual depth with emotional resonance.
The afternoon culminates in a second-half collaboration, as Joyce is joined by a string quartet from the Peaks + Prairies Ensemble for a performance of Schumann's beloved Piano Quintet, transforming solitary reflection into shared musical communion.

ARTIST BIOS
An internationally sought-after pianist, Joyce Yu enjoys imaginative career as a soloist & artistic collaborator. She has mesmerized audiences on renownded stages across the globe. Recent highlights include, Southampton Cultural Center at the Hamptons, Shenzhen Concert Hall, the Ebenezer Theater, and Delbridge Hall in Boston.
Born in Hong Kong, she made her solo debut at fifteen with Orchestra Napolinova in Italy. She has appeared at the Banff Centre, the Gilmore Festival, and Pianofest in the Hamptons. Joyce’s passion for collaboration with fellow musicians has led her to numerous performances. She has developed a remarkable duo with violinist Minchae Kim. Her mentors include artists such as Cho- Liang Lin, Riche Hawley, Ivo-Jan Van Der Werff, and Ilya Kaler. Her career has been supported by Jack & Linda Gill scholarship in piano and violin, the Carmen Mihalache Dimulescu scholarship and the George Brough Memorial Endowment.
She is a full scholarship graduate at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University with Jon Kimura Parke. She is a alumna of the Cleveland Institute of Music, graduating with a bachelor’s degree studying with Italian pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi. She holds two Artist Diplomas from OAcademy. Joyce is currently furthering her artistic journey, working closely with Gabriela Montero.

The Peaks + Prairies Ensemble is an Alberta-based artist collective featuring a large and diverse roster of performers.
The Ensemble has performed several acclaimed concerts since its inception at numerous venues and presenting series in Southern Alberta, including Calgary's Instrumental Society concert series, the National Music Centre/Studio Bell, the King Eddy, ProArts Society and Asylum for Art, as well as Canmore's artsPlace, and The Radiant and Live from the Rockies in Banff, among others.
The Ensemble has also undertaken three regional tours spanning Calgary, Cochrane, Stettler, Bragg Creek, Canmore, and Banff.
